The City of Oak Hill’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program supports informed decision-making by collecting, mapping, and analyzing spatial data related to city infrastructure, planning, public services, and community development. GIS tools help improve transparency, efficiency, and access to information for residents, staff, and stakeholders.
The City of Oak Hill uses GIS technology to visualize and manage critical data across multiple departments. These interactive maps support planning efforts, infrastructure maintenance, public safety, and long-range development by providing accurate, up-to-date geographic information. GIS data is used to map and analyze items such as city boundaries, streets, utilities, zoning, parcels, parks, and other public assets to better serve the community.
The goal of the GIS program is to provide reliable mapping and data resources that enhance city operations and public access to information. GIS supports both internal city functions and public-facing tools that allow residents to better understand their community. Common GIS applications include infrastructure mapping, planning and zoning support, data visualization, and public information services.
Oak Hill provides public access to selected GIS datasets through its Open Data portal. This platform allows residents, businesses, developers, and researchers to explore interactive maps and download data related to city features and services. The Open Data site is regularly updated to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
