The Structural Inspection Board was established to hear and examine evidence related to buildings or structures within the City of Oak Hill that may be considered unsafe, unsanitary, or dangerous to public health, safety, morals, or general welfare.
When a structure is deemed unsafe, the Board is authorized to inspect the foundation, floors, walls, and roof to determine the extent of the condition. Based on its findings, the Board may order that a structure be repaired if it can be reasonably restored. If the structure is occupied, it may be ordered vacated until repairs are completed. In cases where a structure cannot be reasonably repaired, the Board may order demolition in accordance with applicable ordinances.
The Structural Inspection Board plays an important role in protecting public safety while ensuring due process for property owners.
