Needleseye Park is a spectacular 281-acre municipal park of permanently protected land in Oak Hill, Fayette County, owned by the city and managed under a deed of conservation easement via the WV Land Trust. This unique municipal park now features brand-new facilities to maximize the enjoyment of its stunning, rugged landscape.

Park Amenities and Recreation:

The park's diverse terrain—ranging from easy, rolling paths to steep, rocky, and technical trails—supports a wide array of activities:

  • Mountain Biking: Explore 8 miles of newly installed single-track multi-use mountain biking trails, offering exhilarating challenges for riders.
  • Disc Golf: Enjoy the officially completed 18-hole disc golf course, adding a popular recreational feature.
  • Rock Climbing & Bouldering: The park features a vast cliff line and numerous boulders, providing exceptional climbing opportunities with ongoing safety work.
  • Hiking: Use the extensive trail network for hiking and running.
  • Nature: It is a prime location for bird watching and general nature viewing.

 

Updated Access and Facilities:

Access is now centralized at the enhanced trailhead area, which includes all the new visitor amenities:

  • Main Trailhead: Located off Terry Ave and Needleseye Rd 
  • New Amenities: Visitors can now utilize the updated and expanded trailhead parking area, a convenient ADA accessible two-stall restroom facility, and a large, comprehensive trailhead kiosk providing full park information.
  • The Main Path: The "blue" blazed trail remains the primary access trail to the Needleseye rock formation which is 0.7 miles from the parking area, and the Lion’s Den is a 1-mile hike.
